Forrest Gump

In the movie, Forrest Gump, the main character is a man who does not seem to be as intelligent as most of us as he makes his way through life. He learns at the end of the movie that he has a child and that the mother of the child will not live for long. The boy's mother, despite Forrest's limited mental abilities, wants Forrest to raise the child. In the last scene of the movie, Forrest walks his son out to the bus for his first trip to school. As his son gets on the bus the last thing he says to him is, "I'll be right here when you get back." The bus then drives off and Forrest, rather than walking back to the house, sits down on the bench right where he needs to be when his son gets back. Forrest is set financially so he does not need to go to work and he does not rush off to do this and that. He's going to sit there till his son returns and perhaps think about his son: what he's doing, what he needs, what would be good for him, what decisions need be made, what the future may hold, all the myriad influences, factors and decisions that go into raising a child that the most intelligent person on the planet could not comprehend and resolve if they sat on that bench everyday and considered their children. Whatever Forrest might think or not think as he sits on that bench each day, his son need not doubt his father's great purpose and life focus and that would be a rich medium for any boy to grow in.
