The work to the left,'Sparrow and Bamboo' was
painted by Hiroshige the Japanese master painter in 1835 with a little help. The original
design was by Toriname meaning "neighbor's girl." She was 10 years of age.
The work is signed by Hiroshige and by Turiname as well. Such collaboration between
accomplished artists and a child was not limited to Hiroshige as other artists of the time
